I've got kind of an obscure one, but the book- or should I say books- that really scared and disturbed me as a kid were called 'The Scariest Stories You've Ever Heard, and boy they were NOT kidding with that title. I actually only had the second and third volumes that I bought at a school book fair (and to this day I can't believe they sold these things at an elementary school. and they were anthology books with several stories that retold old urban legends, though at the time I had never heard these stories before. The reason the books were so disturbing was most all scary stories I'd seen or read up till that point hardly ever involved kids, and when they did it at least usually turned out okay for them, or the stories would involve horror that was suitable for young readers (like the 'Goosebumps' books do today where it's scary but also a little silly, and more often than not the protagonist lives to the end. Not so in these stories. Kids suffered horrible deaths, or were faced with horrific supernatural forces and situations that, if they didn't kill you, would at least fuck you up for life. I'd also always believed up to that point that your parents would always be able to save you, that no matter how scary the monster under the bed was they'd always rush into your bedroom just in the nick of time to vanquish it. But kids just like me were NOT safe in any of these stories. they could DIE in terrible, incomprehensible ways, and this realization shook me to my core at that age, that awful things could happen to me that no one, not even my parents, could stop. I couldn't even look at those books again until I was in my teens they terrified me so badly when I was younger.

Ok at 50:45 to 50:55 to me the call sounds like The devil says you aren't safe, you're the devil's last to find. If you ever think you're safe, well run again and hide... i also kinda hear so run again colby and the first part The devil says you aren't safe it honestly sounds more like the devil says yourn't safe. lol but that's prolly more because of the accent and at the end it just sounds like incoherent yelling but If you ever think you're safe, well run again and hide. is really the best thing i can make out of it besides well run again colby and the rest i straight up just can't understand at all.

When they started talking about the shadow man I heard what sounded like someone rubbing they're hands together in my room. The witches in macbeth. The first time I watched the film, the only part that really scared me was the bit when the grand High witch pushed the baby in the pram down the hill. Am I the only one who found the original hilarious too this looks fun but I dont scare to easy. Ill never be able to listen to Chris Rock without thinking about Marty from Madagascar.

The witches. The witches 1990 cast. The witches full movie. Wow, great video, but while I wholeheartedly agree that this is the saddest horror movie ever, I 100% disagree with your conclusion. Alice isnt “with” the family at the end, or watching over them. The family moved on, and Alice is left behind. This is spelled out in one of the later scenes, when Alice is recounting her dream to the psychic, about her mother not being able to see her, spliced together with Junes present time walk-through of the house, feeling confident there is no ghostly presence remaining. This makes the movie much sadder and, in my mind, is the real source of its horror. The living move on. The dead are left behind.

I literally watch the original on Netflix 👌👌 and I had just said that they needed a part 2 of this movie but not a remake 😑. I used to read american chillers, goosebumps and scary stories to read in the dark so I was basically a walking ball of anxiety as a kid.
